Apparently they have fixed the app_info_.xml bug. I am going to rename back to normal and test. If others could do the same and report back would be great. If anyone has benn NOT using the app_info.xml to get their Optimized Apps running, please rename your app_info.xml back to normal and report if you are successful in uploading/downloading and reporting work.

:D

Hehe are we taking over here? (Just kidding Pawly).
Yes I can also report that renaming the app_info.xml file back to normal works fine for uploading/downloading. There are some WUs to finish that were downloaded without the app_info file, so I can't report on the validation process yet, but so far, so good.

Hi Canada!

I used to be a seti cruncher about 7 years ago but then my PC crashed and when I tried to re-download the seti program they had some BS about having to pay and there was no where I could find the link to download the program so I quit trying. Then today I checked out my email and got an email about this forum, so I went back to seti. Now there is good news and bad news..

The Good News is, I see seti is free again so I downloaded it and install it. I found that I am still regestered there and that I did not lose my credit/the time I did the crunching 7 years ago and I join your team!

The Bad New is, When the program goes to download it gives me an error message and tells me "No work available to process"

So anyone know what's up with that? I really would love to start crunching again....

Edit to add... OK It seems to be working ok now! WhooHoo!!! :-D

Hello BlueRose3 !!

Welcome Back after your long absence! Good to here things are running smoothly. There has been some server issues at SETI recently but it is being fixed and seems to be working well now.

I am a little surprised to hear about havig to pay to install SETI! This is something I haven't heard of! But maybe there was someone trying to scam some money and if anyone can shed some light on this I would greatly appreciate it.

BOINC is FREE!! If anyone see's a link or site that is charging for downloads of BOINC or Project Membership I would urge them to report the link to Dave Anderson at BOINC or even contact me and I will relay the info.

Hi Pawly, thanks for the nice welcome. :-D
Like I said this was about 7 or 8 yeas ago.. Might have even been 10 years ago… Anyways at the time it was not a spam. I think they were trying a new way to make money for their project. I guess they figured they lost a lot of members because we didn’t want to pay. I know I wasn’t going to pay them. I figured I was doing a service for them so why should I pay them to be a member. It should have been the other way around. LOL…

This was only a couple of years after seti started this screensaver crunching program so it was fairly new at the time. I guess they teamed up with Boinc and so we can get it free again now… I have no idea but like I said it was not a spam at the time. I don’t know how many times I went to their home site in a few months after I crashed and they only wanted paying members so I said screw it. Anyways I glad to see it is free again.
