About eOn

A common problem in theoretical chemistry, condensed matter physics and materials science is the calculation of the time evolution of an atomic scale system where, for example, chemical reactions and/or diffusion occur. Generally the events of interest are quite rare (many orders of magnitude slower than the vibrational movements of the atoms), and therefore direct simulations, tracking every movement of the atoms, would take thousands of years of computer calculations on the fastest present day computer before a single event of interest can be expected to occur, hence the name eon, which is an immeasurable period of time.

The Henkelman Research Group is interested in calculating the long time dynamics of systems. We have developed a method for doing this through distributed computing where a server sends out small data packets for calculation to clients, e.g. over the internet. So, instead of the entire calculation being done on a single processor, it is done on many client computers worldwide. After finishing its calculation, each client computer sends it's results back to the server, which summarizes the results and sends out more jobs.

Thanks again Tiker.

However, on this I got a similar problem to the one with VRS.

Boinc came up with this dialogue box: -

E-Mail already in use

An account with that e-mail address already exists with a different password to the one you entered.

Please visit the project's website & follow the instructions there.

Totally weird as I only use the one address & password for all boinc projects.

Going to do as it suggests anyway, would like to know what password was used.

Hmmmn, maybe that's not so lucky after all.....

I've found that for every 6 or so completed & reported in, a further 5/6 are aborted by the project...

With all of that work to do, you won't have time to work on this new project.. ;)

Quote:
About Constellation

Constellation is a platform for research projects that uses Internet-connected computers to do research in various aerospace related sciences and engineering. You can participate by downloading and running a free program on your computer.
Constellation is supported by

Rechenkraft.net e.V. (German)
DGLR Stuttgart (German)
Selfnet e.V. (German)
Server is powered with Dotsch_UX operating-system and apps will use Java and still to be announced programming and scripting languages.

Constellation Details

Constellation is meant to be a platform for all kind of aerospace related simulation. Currently we are working on ...
TrackJack: trajectory optimization of launchers, satellites and probes (subtask for DGLR-Group HyEnD - Hybrid Engine Development)
On The Moon: simulation of Moon's near-surface exosphere
Extreme Machine: analysis of dynamic systems of exploration-rovers
If you want to join our development team or if you have an simulation idea just contact us!

Hi,

I will tell him! ;)

And I hope that it will be indeed an interesting and usefull project!
Because it's a platform we invite you to do your own aerospace related simulation and we will offer you a place on the plattform. So if you're an aerospace-engineer, an hobby astronomer or just a programming wizzard and can think of an algo that can be used in this fields, we have an open space for you :).

Andreas

PS: please don't PM me because of invites! There will be invites, but not be filling my inbox ;).

/me patiently waits for an invite code. :)

While we wait though, check out this one. No invite code needed but no work either.

Hi,

there are still some things to o before we officially start a closed test. for example there is still no win app http://aerospaceresearch.net/constellation/apps.php and I'm a windows user and want my win app :).
there are some tricky parts for us like using the wrapper and unzipping parts of the app and WUs. this is new for us and that's why we need some more time to do it as right as you deserve it :).

and forum users can PM me and ask me stuff, but not about invitation codes. we will do that fair for all in public whenit's time for it. I will post a notice here, and IF I'll forget it, it will be noticed here http://twitter.com/ARDNnews and on our site.

and we are still looking for your help in the team. if you have an idea what to simulate, or can fluently speak binary or want to participate somewhere else, you are allways welcome! :)

we are working as fast as we can and there will definetly invitation codes for hard core boinc project fans :). what I can't guarantee you is that all of you will get low ID user-numbers :).

No problem regarding the low ID horn, personally I'm not fussed, as long as I get to crunch an interesting project. Pretty sure the rest of the guys here feel the same.

so thanks for the links, much appreciated, & I hope you get things sorted to your satisfaction...so we all can participate... :P

Another Sudoku project... http://sudoku.nctu.edu.tw/

About sudoku@vtaiwan
sudoku@vtaiwan is a research project that uses Internet-connected computers to do research in sudoku. You can participate by downloading and running a free program on your computer.
For sudoku@vtaiwan, we developed new techniques and used them to modify the program Checker (written by Gary McGuire). We successfully reduced the total expected computation time from 300,000 years per core to 2,417 years per core. This makes it more feasible and reasonable to use BOINC to solve Sudoku.
