It has not been a good time for my computers over the last few days, at home I have 2 dual core laptops which are running fine but my desktop pc's harddrive has died so I lost one cruncher there and also my son had 100 gb of music on the drive that he didnt back up :(

I also have 3 computers in London at my sisters, my nephew has uninstalled boinc on 2 of them because he took a dislike to the program but the one that is running I managed to put the new AK Seti optimizer on it and it is giving me a healthy score now.

I have boinc running on a friends pc and that has problems too and has not been running for a while so I will have to investigate the problem

When it rains it pours :(

I lost my main workstation a couple of days ago and still haven't managed to get it up and running again. I'm pretty sure it's a heat issue, but haven't isolated the component yet (can anyone say "lack of time"?). Regardless, it's an old P4 3.0GHz HT box from several years ago so I'm going to ditch it and get a quad as it's not worth sinking any money into. Currently have my PentiumD up and running as my main workstation (oddly enough, it's more powerful than my old daily workstation...), but I'm not too keen on configuring it with all the regular apps I use so I'm feeling slightly crippled for now...

My sons computer with the bust hard drive is an AMD Sempron 3000 and I am going to replace the motherboard and cpu and go for a quad I think, but my finances are low at the moment so it wont be a done deal for a while yet
