Hi guys, have a slight poser & any suggestions would be most welcome.

Just finished upgrading my workstation to a Coolermaster Case. Have used all power cables with one molex & 1 drive bay remaining. The board has 9 sata + 1 E-sata, 2 ide connections.

Have 2 backplanes taking up 6 sata & as seen in the photo, the other 3 taken up by drives in the top section. The bottom section has 2 ide drives attached with room for 1 more. I have 1 DVD-Rom attached leaving 1 free connection for the last ide.

POSER..... Even with putting the DVD underneath the backplanes (see crunching room thread) & moving the ide drives to the top of the drive bays, I can't seem to get hold of an ide cable to enable me to connect hd & DVD on the same cable.

I don't think you will find a cable long enough
The only thing I can think of is to add an SATA/IDE contoller card
Then you can add even more drives :-D

Thanks Frank. I was thinking along those lines, however, I think it would be a waste of a card as I have 5 of the 6 drive bays full & all 6 of the bays in the backplanes full. I'll try & see if I can get a cable made up. If not, will just have to do without that 12th drive.

Oh boy, why did I decide to put all my music/films on disk? Hurry up manufacturers & bring out the 4/5tb drives

Hopefully found solution to problem. Maximum length of IDE cabling is 18" which is more than enough. Local computer repair shop will be making one up for me with the right distance from Connector 1 to Connector 2. Hopefully, that will work. Will be picking it up Monday.

IDE cable didn't work, but brother provided solution. Gave me a long round IDE with the gap between the 2 connectors at 7" - this was ideal & drives connected & working ok.
