Yes, I am a Charlottean, a Southern boy, and I am Boincing for Canada. Proud to be a part of the True North, strong and free. I have posted a couple of times in the forum, and I say again:

Canada has it right. I hope you all know how lucky you are, truly blessed. You have our technology, a beautiful country, less crime, more of people caring for one another, and 1/10 the population. I will be visiting again this year (my 5th time to your land). I want to live there, become a Canadian one day.

While I am here in America, though, I will do the next best thing: put my efforts and flops to work for good causes... with the credits going to a real country. Long story why I don't care for America, but it has nothing to do with Obama (well, very little) I like Harper, I like his ideas, and I like the ProgCons (my term).

I've got a source or 2 who might be able to hook up another 'puter or so... legally and legit, of course. The more, the merrier.

Last, I tried out almost every project BOINC has; I have settled on nine important ones, as my sig details. I wanted to make a real difference; finding prime numbers of enormous size is dandy, as is all pure knowledge, but there are things, honestly, that are more pressing. Artificial intelligence is the next step in computing; I have read a good book about computers one day possibly helping humanity survive elsewhere. That I run. We -must- learn about our climate, so I am running Climateprediction. The other 7 deal with protein manipulation and categorization, all with the aim of using the acquired knowledge for potential gene and protein-based therapy. I am going to make a difference... and I must... here comes my story...

*Tooting own horn*... I am a high-school dropout. I wasn't lazy; I was in line for big things, actually. Colleges were looking at me, 4.0+ grades. People wanted to cheat off my papers :p Well, in a cruel instance of irony, I had a not-so-hidden case of didaskaleinophobia, which is the fear of school. I was hospitalized for it, and I wanted no more to do with school after I was released. Because of that, I pissed away the last 3 years of my school career (8th-10th grades) taking basket weaving stuff until I could drop out. I had to; it was no option. Had I had the wherewithal to pursue things with the good mind God gave me, and to do so 110%, I would have done big things. I am sad every day b/c of where I am now, and I feel the need to give back to this world somehow. Unused flops are the least I can do. I wanted to be a chemist or attorney... well, I donate flops and sell on eBay. That's why I joined here... Canadians are nice people, and supportive... :( And appreciative of a best effort. Down here, it's kill or be humiliated :p

Thanks for letting me in, and a thanks to Paul for answering of my more mundane, rtfm-type questions... Cesium... :-D

Always nice to read from you.

We have Sirius B who lives in England and now you in USA.

Canada expands its hegemony all over the place!

So be it.

Now there's a well delivered intro! I can't remember my first post, but I know I never really introduced myself (how rude!). Regardless, we're glad to have you aboard Cesium!

Have you checked out WCG yet (http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/)? They've got lots of different projects running that may interest you (FightAIDS@Home, Conquer Cancer, Human Proteome Folding, Discovering Dengue Drugs, Nutritious Rice for the World, Clean Energy project). All are run by reputable labs and the research is generally well thought out. Credits per wu tend to be lower than some other projects, but the research is sound and meaningful.
