Hi all,

Not sure if someone else has posted on this, but I thought I'd advertise it just in case:) There is a primegrid challenge for March 15 that lasts 24 hours. See the following post:

http://www.primegrid.com/forum_thread.p ... true#13978

Team Canada came in 26th on the first challenge of the year:

http://www.primegrid.com/challenge/challenge.php#team

Let's see if we can't make a better showing this time!!

Cheers!
Alan

Switched my quad over to share with BURP for a while. I switch it full force this evening.

Hold the phones Batman! Switched to PrimeGrid and my CPU temps shot up an extra 10 degrees C wtihin a minute. No other projects I'm currently running have any issue keeping the temps down on my rig. As such I think I'll keep myself out of this race - I don't feel like undoing my OCing just to crunch PG for a day...Sorry guys!

19 hours remaining!!!

I'll have time to sleep and attach my cpus to it. The WUs aren't that long for now, I tried some, but suspended the project until tomorrow.

I like these challenge and races thing. Like the WCG Christmas Race. Feel nice to be part of the team ;-)

24-hour Challenge is now on the way!!!

Full 3 machines crunching for it!

I don't know where I can find out if I'm helping? I guess there will be standings tomorrow.

Edit: Actually, I found where I can see my score. I guess it's not each WUs that give some points, 'cause I wasn't on the list earlier despite of the completion of some WUs. Now I'm in. Luck must be a part of the points, I guess. Or is it just the total credits done??

It should be a total of points done... But we got this issue as well in our team...Some people doesn't appear in the list even if they are crunching LLR WU taken after the starting time.
Let's see later

The challenge is over and the results are in.....Canada took 18th place overall! A much better showing!

http://www.primegrid.com/challenge/ides ... teams.html

LaPandaRoux and dudumomo:

I suspect that those work units that didn't show up were downloaded just before the challenge started. Only WUs that were downloaded after the challenge started and uploaded before it ended were counted. I wasn't able to micromanage my CPUs either and ended up crunching about 2 hours of work that didn't count for the challenge.

NEway, great job guys and gals! Anyone happen to find a prime??

user312:

Yes, the LLR tasks at primegrid are very CPU intensive! I can imagine that an OC'd CPU would get very hot crunching them. The sieve tasks, however, are quite CPU-friendly...I can even crunch them on my dusty old pentium-4 laptop without a problem. The next task in line for the primegrid challenge series is a sieve task (April 30). So, if you're still interested in participating in the challenges, but don't want to risk your Quad getting too hot, the sieve challenges are a good option.

Send in a reminder and I'll throw a few cycles that way. Would've been nice to know about the LLRs (it's been a while since I crunched PG!) prior to the challenge, but that's life...

Was fun to be part of it!

I'll crunch in the further challenges too!

I crunched about 650 WUs, no primes.

Thank you ! 18th is also nice for the size f your team ! 8)
Unfortunatly for the moment member of AF are mainly on Milkyway just to score....
Primegrid attract less and less people in my team (Or may be ... others projects attract more and more xD)
Anyway the next one will be 64b, which should be better for crunching ! :-D
