If the answer to this is straight forward, my apologies.....I've forgotten it!

Before building server early last year, I had a small network of 4 rigs on a small lan using a Safecom router (pretty basic one at that). Net access & rig access ok. Added a Lexmark E120n Laser printer, again, no problems.

On buliding server, found that the Safecom needed replacing as it did not do port forwarding which was needed for the server, so replaced with a Netgear router, again no problems.

Recently upgraded router to gigabit & replaced with a D-Link. Unfortunately, both the Safecom & Netgear were 192.168.1.1 & the D-Link is .0.1. not a problem until I needed to use the laser.

Every rig states that laser is not connected. Looked into the problem & found that I had set it up as 192.168.1.11. Tried changing router to .1.1, so that I could change the printer to .0 so that it could be recognised. Hasn't worked, & I no longer have the old routers. Tried resetting factory defaults on the printer, but it still remains the same.

Any idea as to how this can be changed so that the lan can see it?

Couldn't get this resolved so, disconnected from network & connected to main rig via USB as needed printer urgently.

Does the printer have it's own network card, or are you using a JetDirect or equivalent? How is the IP address for the printer handled? I'm assuming it's static, but you never know. Regardless, there should be some method of changing the IP address of the printer's network interface (I don't use LexMarks so I can't help you much there). One other thing to check is the DHCP scope of the router? If it's issuing the 1.11 address to a computer there'll be an IP conflict and your printing won't function correctly.

It has it's own web interface like a routers. E120n

Reset to factory defaults & it still shows as above. After completing several large print jobs, I tried via rj45 again. Still no access. At the moment, I have it on USB & Lexmark provide drivers for local & remote access, so going to try it that way.

How about trying a RJ-45 to J-45 cross over cable and connecting a laptop directly to the printer, with the laptop set to the correct ip range and subnet. Then you should be able to call up the ip of the printer and change it over to the new settings required. Then connect the printer to the new network and it should work well. Have done this many times with printer changes as such.

Thanks Lunarcom. Don't have a laptop, but will try it with a desktop.
