Being an insomniac kinda sucks sometimes, but at least I'm using it for something creative..
Heres my attempt, the idea was to have the "data" (in the form of the cliche Matrix-code) to go to "Canada" and come out as... Canadian lol.. well, this is the result anyways:

And I was dismayed to find out none of the accepted photo types support an Alpha channel, so heres my attempt at a somewhat-transparent border look, though of course it isnt actually transparency at all, but on a white background it fakes it ok:

EDIT: wow, apparently the default background for the forum ISNT pure white as I was thinking ... oh well whatever.

I went to make an avatar or sig and the line for this came up in my head and it made me laugh so it sorta ended up turning into a SETI-specific banner.. I cant take credit for the pic of the planet/sun, that came from a set of wallpapers i found online.

I have a fascination with space and anything space related, hence the space theme... Plus I have no clue what else would make a good banner/sig/avatar lol...
And yea, my maple leaf brush IS stolen from the Molson Canadian logo... I guess you could call it a subliminal message :-P

thanks for the good words.. ill try to get goin on a more general one as a banner, and maybe a more general signature pic, especially one that I can use as my sig is so ugly lol

I'll see when I can get to doing that later, as I'm currently somewhat sidetracked playing around with my new Acer Aspire One netbook that I picked up yesterday...

Also:

If you are trying to make a transparency, ".gif" usually works.

I can't speak for everyone, but I usually use the black forum background! lol You can change it in your profile page.
