Do they still have that annoying bug where it forces a benchmark at a farily frequent interval and ends up losing CPUs (e.g. my dual cores suddenly become singles after the benchmark)? This only happened when I was running QMC and is the main reason I stopped crunching on any of my multicores back in December '06 (and haven't cruched anything at all since January).

Have you tried changing your general preferences, specifically the setting for multiprocessors, increase the number. I have seen 2 projects running at the same time on a computer with hyper threading.

Any changes you make to your general preferences will be changed on all projects once they connect.

It has nothing to do with preferences, although I have run into that one in the past when attaching to a new non-BAM project (bloody annoying too!).

For QMC it is a completely different issue - In order to get around issues with people cheating by manually modifying thier benchmark results or using an optimized client (e.g. 5.5.0 anyone?) they integrated a a component in their wus that woudl force a benchmark in order to get realistic benchmarking . Regardless, whenever I was actively cruching QMC (and ONLY QMC) benchmarking would run several times a day (vs. once every couple of days) and drop a CPU core on all of my dual cores every time it ran thereby reducing their productivity by 50%. The only way to get the core back was to restart boinc and then run the built in benchmarking app. Obviously very annoying so I simply stopped crunching for them. Haven't tested since so they may have fixed it already - they have had a few application updates since then...

Benchmarked before 1rst QMC started running earlier, finished up the other projects WU and got a 2nd QMC, no benchmark on that one. Both been running fine (Core2 Duo/Vista/5.10.20 setup) for the last 4h or so.

I've been running QMC for a while and from what I've read in the message boards and seen in my own results the credits are now preset for most WU's. There has been no extra benchmarking showing up on my machines.

Good to hear - I'll throw some of my dual cores into the mix in the next couple of days...

@steve2000

There would be no point to voting for project of the month if people abstained
Vote what you want
I created the tie this last round of votes by electing QMC (anybody to be resented it's me) :nod:
I didn't even vote for 1 of the 2 projects I'm founder of (RCN or RieselSieve)

@everybody
If you don't prefer the choices for the month it's open to discussion
the idea behind POTM is to boost the 20 or 30 lesser known projects (I quit counting @20 projects)

I'm going to try and push 12 cores as long as I can, but I have go back to YOYO and try to regain some positions(from 1st to 7th)

Thanks for the updates everyone!

I've got it up and running on a few of my dual cores since early this morning without any issues so it looks like they got rid of the extra benchmarking component of the application when they changed their credit system - it used to run immediately after starting each new wu so it would have been pretty easy to spot. I've got 300 to start with and will start putting some real numbers up soon - that is as soon as SIMAP work runs out....for now QMC will have to be conent with 50% cpu time.

Nice, if we can manage to keep this 12k/24h average, we should crack the 1mil mark by the end of the month... thats if QMC doesnt run out of work like Predictor and uFluids :bling:

Just a heads up - as noted on the home page of QMC, there is limited support until Oct. 6. On the "Number Crunching" message board under "Running out of work" it sounds like the work that's there is all there is until then. If you only have a day or so of WU's you may want to keep an eye on the server status or just load up now.

It looks like they are finally going to leave beta phase and become a full project, hopefully the work will keep coming, if not we go to the second place project and crunch Einstein until they give us more work. Einstein needs alot of help as well.

And the RAC will continue to rise if everyone keeps crunching at this rate. I believe it takes about 2 weeks to reach your maximum RAC if you don't change your resources. Great numbers eveyone!!!
