An Optimizing Application is (very simply put) a small piece of software that can be added to your SETI@home Client to increase efficientcy. The following links lead to optimizing applications (Opt App) compiled by Borg of Team Genesis - Canada. I have been using it for some time now and have seen my RAC more than double!
IF YOU NEED HELP WITH OPTIMIZING PLEASE ASK! IT CAN BE CONFUSING FOR FIRST TIMERS. BELIEVE ME ... I KNOW.
This link leads to the Team Genesis Home Page and the Opt Ap downloads are located towards the middle of the page. It is in a zipped format so you will need WinZip or WinRar to open and install.
His team mate Maltese Falcon also has these downloads available in a more NEWBIE friendly (read: step by step instructions) fashion. Falcon has also volunteered to help any crunchers in need of assistance.
Both these gentelmen are very helpful and patient (again ...I KNOW ) and the sites are VERY COOL and fun to look around. You may also want to visit thier Forum. Tell 'em Pawly sent ya!

I guess it is working, I am seeing a slight spike in my host average, i was looking at my user average which is still going down because I don't have my other two computers back yet.
I an't wait to move in and stop living in a hotel.

Didn't help I lost my credit card the other day, so I cancelled it, then I could not get a hold of the people who pay for this move to pay for the hotel, so I paid for it with cash, nearly bounced a car payment, then I found my freakin' credit card. Do you know how much a suite is for a week and a half? This probably should be in the humour section.

As Pawly mentioned there are 3 of us running the optimized app, and I can attest to the fact that it is running great to this point. I've had no errors whatsoever, well with the outage and all that's not a fair statement, but no problems on my end. I'm running it on an A64 X2 3800+, and until recently an A64 3700+.

There are reasons for not releasing it as stable. None of which are for it being unstable.

I think I'll grab that optimizer for my main machine too... I'm assuming its for any AMD 64, and not just the X2 series right?

Thanks Pawly.....
The new Intel compiler 10.0 seems to have support for generic sse, sse2 and sse3. They've added a Ox/ switch that may generated code that will operate on processors not made by Intel that support SSE3, SSE2 and SSE instruction sets.
But it seems This value does not enable some optimizations enabled in the S, T, and P processor values. So the question is, will this perform differently then the patched id check version we're running now?
Only way to find out is to compile one with icc 10 and test it. Will keep advised.

Thanks for the reply Jico. I've corrected the mislabeling of the sse3. your RAC should still go higher, let me know were you are after 7-10 days.
I'll report back on any progress with the new app.

Ya know?
I think we should just skip right over the Dual Core and Quad Core stuff ...... Let's go right for WARP core!! Dilithium powered and and routed through the Transporter Buffer. It could be broadcast via the Sensor Array and stored in the Holo-suites!
Just a Thought!
