C-tv that's Canadian tv... and I'm HOOKED..... Y'all got me- hook, line, and sinker..
There are a few select shows that do air in the US but thanks to a friend ( no names given) above the northern border... I'm being converted...

the hook = Heartland
the line = Being Erica
the sinker = The Border

My hats off to y'all, there's some good TV up there. Could y'all share a little wee bit more of the gems like these?
This tv addict can't get enough.

But those are just works of fiction. You need to watch the documentaries to catch the true sense of Canada. Try Corner Gas, Trailer Park Boys, or the Red Green Show, for example.

 I'm not so sure about Trailer Park Boys (unless you live in Alberta) but RWalker is right -- definitely Red Green and Corner Gas - you might also want to check out Robson Arms for a taste of Toronto!

Or for a historical point of view, King of Kensington - if you can find it. All about the old royals in Canada. And if you want Canadian ancient history, look for Wayne and Shuster.

For good Canadian fiction, and a theme song every Canadian immediately recognizes, try http://www.hww.ca/media_viewer2.asp?id=230&Language=E.

Yup- that's what I'm talking about- good fiction TV. I'm not much in to sitcoms these days, I do like documentary shows (especially on the sciences), and I love science fiction. Thanks for the recommendation- I'll check them out.

Right now- need Heartland Se 3 Ep 6 - can't seem to find it. ( last weeks ep) They're usually available within 2 days.
I hope ep 7 doesn't get skipped- Jessica Steen's supposed to be in it.

Isn't it amazing how emotionally attached we become to our favorite TV shows? We become so drawn in to the fictional worlds created for our entertainment and when we can't see new episodes.... I found out that I'm not the only one jonezing for new episodes of Heartland.
With all the complaining people do down here about a lack of 'good quality tv' I don't understand why it's not aired in the US- clearly it falls in to this category. There are other shows we receive from Canada- I think it would do rather well here.

Season 1 DVDs are on Amazon and they are US region compatible- so that works for me. Still, I'm hoping for some new stuff.

Apparently those who were uploading the Heartland episodes have decided not to do so any longer- I'll have to wait until the DVDs hit amazon. Sad yes but I think I can wait.

For the serious Beachcomber fans: here is a link that blew me away when I first saw it. Does the third guy from the right look familiar?

Another show you might enjoy is called Flash Point ( Made in Toronto ) here is the web site http://www.cbs.com/primetime/flashpoint/

About
Quote:
FLASHPOINT is a drama that depicts the emotional journey into the tough, risk-filled lives of a group of cops in the SRU (inspired by Toronto's Emergency Task Force). It's a unique unit that rescues hostages, busts gangs, defuses bombs, climbs the sides of buildings and talks down suicidal teens. Members of a highly-skilled tactical team, they're also trained in negotiating, profiling and getting inside the suspect's head to diffuse the situation to try and save lives.

*shakes fist at Pawly for the nostalgic flashback*

Had a pair of dogs that couldve been used as doubles for "Hobo" when the show was on the air.
Got stopped quite often for photo opps :P

Always watched this as a kid. Didn't they make a second batch of shows in the 1980s, with another dog? To me, the difference between this show and Lassie really summed up the difference between Canada and the US.

Not that i know of.
The first run was in from '63 to '65 and the second from '79 to '85.
Kinda wish they would make a third run.

Then again, the current trend is to reboot stuff 25years later so it might be in the works :P

OMG!!! I need a copy of 'Torque' 1985 (Season 6, Episode 13) - it's the Jessica Steen episode!!!!

As usual we in the US cannot view show episodes on Canadian sites. :(

Yes I understand your frustration, the same thing happens to me when I try to view some of the programs at PBS even though it is a Canadian affiliated station( Studios in Toronto and Buffalo). :(

This is BS... I just learned- literately within the last 5 minutes, that the US is getting "Being Erica" beginning January 20th.

The 1st part of the BS- it's only available on soapnet- the soap opera network. This means that we US fans have to pay more money to add this channel to our cable line up.

The 2nd part of the BS- it's the same deal as The Sci-Fi channel had done with Stargate SG1- claiming that it's "An Original" Soapnet production. And we KNOW that this is not true.

The 3rd part- they're starting off with season two. It makes more sense to begin with Se 1 Ep 1 - doesn't it?

I prefer watching without those pesky gnats (commercials) So, does anyone know when this show is or if it will be released on DVD ?
