Hi guys, any server guru's on the team?

Reason I ask is that got 2 weird situations.....

Was well chuffed with finally being able to get WHS v2(beta) up & running, that I decided to log into my Server 2008 R2 & SBS 2008 servers to upgrade boinc.....

1st problem...Server 2008 log in was successful but before I could do anything, dialogue box cropped up asking for device driver (search net, location etc - standard box). It was looking for a device driver for my optical mouse.....weird I thought....as the mouse is perfectly ok, even tried a new one but same problem....

Anyone know how to resolve this?

2nd problem is more awkward.... can't log into SBS 2008 as it states user name or password incorrect.....now this one is totally weird as the correct user name & password was used. Tried several password crackers but so far, no joy...

Any idea as to how to get round this?

All advice will be most welcome.

In all the years I've been building systems, this is the weirdest problem I've come across....

My Server 2008 rig is running off an Asus M3N78 Pro motherboard with an AMD 9600 Phenom cpu. The mobo does not have any PS/2 sockets, so using a USB mouse & a PS/2 keyboard with a usb/PS/2 adapter.

Swapped over to another mouse (Andrea's "Ipswich" mouse as the only spares in stock are PS/2) & it worked. Checked out my "Chelsea" mouse on other rigs & there's nothing wrong with it..... server needs a good kicking for disliking Chelsea......

As for the SBS server, that was a corrupted (possibly failing) drive. Reinstalled on a new drive & everything ok. checked out the SBS drives on my workstation (for all my servers, I use caddies, makes life easier), the server backup drive wouldn't allow access using any tool, so reformatted that one & all ok. As for the O/S drive, that kept making clicking noises, so that one got binned (over 2 yrs old so warranty expired). Was surprised at that though as it was a Samsung spinpoint 500gb and have been using those for a long time with no problems experienced until now. still using many of those on my main workstation.
