just stopping by to say howdy to my Canadian buds. 8) I'm not meaning to be a stranger- there's just been a lot of chaos around me.

Thanks User, I'm trying. Honestly, I don't want to subject my friends to the chaos- IRL or online. I'm of the personality type that reacts emotionally to stress; especially with senseless situations that no one should have to deal with. I tend to lose friends when that happens. And I like having friends.

ok y'all... I want pics of this... Jessica Steen has been nominated for a Gemini Award for her role as Donna Sabine in Flashpoint. I need and want a picture of her in her gown. If she wins I want a pic of that moment. :)

her most notable roles are:

Captain Power - Crpl Jennifer 'Pilot' Chase 1987 / 88 nomination)
NCIS - Agent Paula Cassidy
Heartland - Lisa Stillman
Flashpoint - Donna Sabine (nominated)

In an interesting tidbit Jessica and fellow Hearland castmate Michelle Morgan had portrayed the same character- Dr Elizabeth Weir of the Stargate collection. Jessica had the role in the two-part 'movie' Stargate: The Lost City.. There are confligting stories about why she was replaced for the show. At this point it is water under the bridge. Jessica had gone on to other shows that are equally as impressive.Suffice to say- Jessica introduced us to the character Elizabeth,

Her friend Michelle Morgan had 2 rolls on SGA - First she was "Fran" (the "Friendly Replicator Android") was created and named by Dr. Rodney McKay, who needed to find a way to attract Replicator nanite cells together. Fran was indeed friendly, content with her identity and limited lifespan, always greeting others with a simple and purely genuine "Hello."

Later, towards the end of the dealings with the replicator- FRAN returned to the city, insisted she was Weir- After finally proving herlf- and convincing then that she's not a thrat. At least she sort of killed off the repoicators. They were just sort of let, hanging in space. And she went with them.

aaarrrggghh.... just got a nudge from an old.... and I mean old plot bunny.... he's looking a bit old. and his hairs not looking too good. Such a loyal and good bunny- he keeps the files with him for his story :) He's a good bunny- my best producer of star trek stuff. I had got chased away because the othert bunnies want to shair their stories too. He took that a bit too far. Some bunny's can be to censitive.

Wow, thanks MzS. Welcome back btw.

just goes to prove that at times we are not very observant.... :(

2 of my favorite shows.....& never realised that Jessica was in both.

Got all 15 seasons of SG1/SGA & 6 of NCIS (annoyed with the yanks as to why we over here are about 6 - 12 months behind with DVD releases), & never realised that Elizabeth Weir & Paula Cassidy was the same person....

Slap on the wrist for me.... :oops2:

She was for 'Lost City' ... the powers that be behind the show decided to go Torri Higginson (who 'happens' to be represented by the same LA agency as Steen.) Ultimately they got rid of the character and the actress for reasons I don’t know. To wrap up the specific storyline for the character, the brought it back by using another character with a case of literal impersonation. This actress now plays a main role on Heartland where Jessica Steen has a reoccurring role as the grandfather’s girlfriend.

I enjoyed Jessica’s character on NCIS, especially the way she toyed with Tony. She could really give back what he dishes out. I had stopped watching the show after the episode ‘Grace Period’ (2007). This story ended with Cassidy dying in an explosion. It was a while before I could watch to the show again.

Personally IMO, I am so sick and tired of this. Jessica Steen is underestimated, under-utilized, and underappreciated. I swear, if one of my novels / series ever becomes produced for film, I want her in it.

Anyway- (steps off her soap box) don't feel bad about the delayed airings. We're a season behind with Flashpoint, and 4 seasons behind with Heartland. They keep promising to air in the US but yet to happen (grumbles about CBS). I get to see Heartland only because fans upload eps to youtube. :) This is how I got to see Homefront, another series that Steen was in.

I have to edit and add in "I love Steen in Armageddon"- I want to get a copy of 'The Criterion Collection' version simply because it has scenes of hers that had been cut from the theater release.

Have to agree with you regarding NCIS. She was a very strong charactor but not that strong where she ruins the episode. I personally thought that she would continue in the series with an on/off storyline similar to Tony & Ziva, but "Grace Period" ended that thought.

As for SG1/Atlantis, I felt that Jessica was a far stronger Charactor/Actor than Tori & I think that Jessica could've made Atlantis that bit more powerful a series & who knows, maybe have extended it beyond the 5 seasons.

Yeah they really screwed themselves on that one. I don't have anything against Torri, I just think that Jessica was a better pick for the role and a far better actress. If you haven't seen Heartland it's on the CBC in Canada. Jessica seems very comfortable in the role as Lisa Stillman. I keep hoping that they will increase her screen time with the show. Of course it's a double treat to see her also on Flashpoint. She'll be in the season finale. I don't know how much screen time she gets, I'm just happy to see she's getting it.

It's my understanding that Hollywood has limitations on 'foreign' talent. I don't know the specifics, only that there's restrictions regarding foreign actors and actresses on television shows filmed and produced in the US. IMO they shouldn't consider Canadian talent as foreign. We're on the same bleeping continent. LOL Obviously Canada doesn't have this issue- Amy Jo Johnson (Jules / Flashpoint) is American- born and raised in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

In that case, they've messed up good with Cote de Pablo (Ziva).

Yeah they have- Cote is a good actress but the character Ziva is better as a 'supporting cast' but not a lead character.
Being a fan of Jessica Steen you might like these video tributes on Paula Cassidy that I found on youtube... These are my 2 favorite ons videos - Both are very well done. Enjoy!

I disagree with one thing- I don't believe that she had to die, there could have been another way.

Not really, she may have been born in Chile - but she was raised in Miami Fl - and educated in the US. She is a "naturalized citizen" of the US.

Nice video's, thanks for the links.

Films & TV can be crap a lot of the time, but it's a real joy when a cast works extremely well together & keep the audiences viewing.

JAG was a superb series & the 2 parter, "Ice Queen & Meltdown" was great & was glad they turned that into NCIS. The same with the 2 parter "Legend" leading to NCIS:LA. Another series that looks like getting better with time. Looking forward to both NCIS season 8 & NCIS:LA season 2 on the 20th/21st Sept.

Still annoyed about JAG. That series ended in April 2005, yet season 9 will is released here on the 20th, gawd knows when season 10 will be released (missed quite a few of those episodes when on TV, so looking forward to seeing Harm & Mc finally get together).

I missed so many episodes of JAG I stopped watching- couldn't follow along. Another good show that just keeps getting better is Criminal Minds. They've gotten even better since Patinkin's departure. As I understand it, the current season finale - with Tim Curry - is meant to lead in to the opener of a spin-off series. :)

Well received season 9 of JAG yesterday morning, but I've put off watching that at the moment....

I love good forums.... :P

Got a friend in the states who watched & recorded the 1st episode of season 8 NCIS earlier this week.... she couldn't understand how to upload it to me so sent it via Skype... & to be honest, didn't know if that would work...

I DO NOW....

She's promised to record every episode & send it to me....very nice... saves being 6 months behind here...

I'll get it on DVD anyway on it's release - sometime in summer 2011

I know that feeling- going to have to wait until The Listener is released on DVD. I think that season 1 is available. It's going to be a while until season 2 though. This was one of the Canadian shows that aired in the US during the strike. And as no surprise, it was dropped when business returned to normal.

Yeah, I find that annoying. It's like "The Fugitive" as soon as season 1 was released, many clamoured for the rest. On the supposed release date of season 2, everyone found out that it was not to be...there's a copyright issue over the music for that season, so the viewers end up losing out....AGAIN

nope, tried countless sites & every one of them stated not available to view in your region. As for torrent programs, won't allow them anywhere near my networks.
