Thank God I'm a crazy Irishman!

Canada & ALL Canadians - I Salute You.

Have been busy most of the day, & just settled down after dinner to read today's papers.

Front Page of today's "Mail on Sunday" says it all about this country. Had I been a British Citizen, I would be totally ashamed!

Whatever Next?

I guess they're only concerned with Foreign Issues.

While it's well known that Canada is divided on the commitment to the mission
in Afghanistan, our commitment to our troops is stronger now than it has been for years.

Divided is putting it mildly i think. Conflicted might be a better word for it.
But it also makes us realize that, even though we dont all agree on the same things; we all enjoy the same freedoms, the same values, and we try, even if we dont have to, to bring that and share it to countries that dont have them.
And that, i think, is one of the things that make Canada such a great country.

Wasn't to sure where to put this post, but felt it should go in this thread re: Respect.

A week ago, Henry Allingham, aged 113 & 1 of 2 remaining surviving UK veterans of World War I passed away.

Sadly, Harry Patch, aged 111, the last remaining survivor, passed away peacefully in his sleep yesterday.

To those who served & those who serve...........We Shall Not Forget.

R.I.P. Gentlemen.

That's how some folks feel here in the states- even if a person cannot or will not support an action- they support the troops. The men and women who serve our countries are merely following orders. It's the people in charge that are questionable.

What a shame UK treats its armed forces like that. I've heard of a few other examples besides this page.

It's not just the politicians Zapp, but the people. We had an R.A.F parade here in town some time ago....some of the servicemen & women were spat on & that got me riled up.

Many of my parents families fought in WWII with several never returning home. Several more served in Korea. For the past decade or so, my family & I believe they served & died for nothing as far as the UK is concerned.

Thats pretty sad. Over here I bet the one doing the spitting would get beat up then arrested.
Both my parents were involved in WWII as well as many of their families.
All vets deserve a lot more respect than they get.
