This topic appears to be closed. Unless there are any dissenting voices,
The Team name will remain "Canada".
Please voice your opinion if you disagree. This topic will remain stickied for one month and then be officially closed.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The official name (currently) of this team is "Canada" not "Team Canada" and I, along with others find it can be a bit confusing. A name that sets us apart from the crowd would be great! Tony and I have been trying to brainstorm new names and we have come up with two thus far.
Oh Canada!
and
Canada Crunch
(We like Chocolate, can ya tell?)
Red Atomic has been very helpful in making banners for us and you can see some of his handy work at the top of the page. He also made these ones for us (just in case) and a few more too! The man is tireless!
We would like to ask you to brainstorm as well and post your ideas here. When we have a few more good ones then we can utilize the polling option on this forum and get the general team concensus. Once we have a name we can really get busy advertising and recruiting for the team.
So break out the thinking caps (tinfoil head protectors are also acceptable) and help us find a new identity!! I'm looking forward to seeing what you folks come up with!
Paul
Instead of Captain Crunch, Canada Crunch, especially with that caption "Crunch-atize". We never get soggy either, no matter how much beer we've had.
We should have a theme song as well, like Def Leppard's "Pour some syrup on me".
Just in case your wondering, I can never come up with ideas; I am usually the bridge when my mouth spews things, others get the ideas. So please forgive me.
Ya know, The more I think about it the more I like just "Canada". (I can just hear the groans,"but you started this thread to change the name! What a jerk!" :grr: )
Let's face it, people joining the team know it's SETI or another BOINC project they have joined. So adding the @home is a little redundant and what BETTER name than, Canada?
Maybe just leave things he way they are? Canada as the team name and Oh Canada! as the Home Forum/Site?
I dunno. Anyone?
Yeah but what about Quebec? There should be something in the title about Quebec!
Sorry I retreat! I am full of little political quips and I am holding back trust me. I am trying to let the neutral ones, or the ones that make fun of themselves out.
I know this thread is a little out of date, but I'd prefer just leaving it as Canada. Theoretically, any new people that join the BOINC projects can easily find us across all the projects under that single name. Most won't go for funky Canadian names because they figure it was started by someone very immature. I always prefer a good dose of professionalism to something that's unique and kind of silly.
Hey take a look at this site:
Canadian teams
It shows we are the #1 Canadian team so I would leave the name alone we already attract the most Canadians, and others. What we need is to attract people from other teams or people that haven't joined a team.
As a few of the other members have suggested, why not just leave the name the way it is. But if the name should change, will you advise the rest of the members in the team? So we can make the adjustments to our, projects that we are taking part in.
I was partial to Oh! Canada if there was going to be a change, but after reading other posts here, I agree that leaving it as Canada is the best idea ... why change something that's working?
