I picked some projects that we haven't been crunching hard enough, we are down in the stats.

I'll hold off on voting for a bit, but I'll put my 2 cents in here anyway...

I wouldn't suggest VTU unless you're very patient and don't mind getting a little screwed on credits. I'm still waiting on well over 1,000 credits from February and have only recently had a few of those credits trickle in (check my stats - there are a few new credits and I haven't actively crunched for them since the end of February). The other issue (not really an issue, but kind of an annoyance) is that they have a forum of 2 and take the lowest credit value. Therefore if you're cruching happily on your stock P4 dual core and you end up paired up with an overclocked quad core you'll get half of your claimed credit (if you're lucky!). Not generally a big deal, however back when I was crunching there was one specific PC that was tearing through the wus and knocking the credit value per wu down considerably. From my experience its obviously not the best choice if you're planning on putting up some big numbers in a short period of time although I open it up for a discussion if anyone else has a different experience...

Going Leiden there are more total members a better chance to attract new people to the team.

Voted for XtemLabs this month since they were lowest in rank and i was already on it from last months uFluids shortage.

Besides, like i posted back on September's poll, i dont really mind which way it goes. I'll just add the winning project and run that one for the month 8)

I picked SHA-1 just cause I'm lazy - I'm currently running it on my less powerful PCs until I reach 250,000.

Laziness aside, it has plenty of work, short wus, good credit return and needs help (I'm holding down the fort with 61,000 out of 75,000 credits!). Since it's also a fairly new project we could easily put Canada into a prominent position (200,000 for top 10 - lunja crunching for a week could easily put us over...).

Regardless, like the sheep I am I'll follow the flock to the next PotM...

We are now 16th by RAC on SHA-1 Collision Search Graz, it looks like some of the other projects needs more help than this one.

Looks like SHA-1 Collision Search Graz is pulling out in front.

WELL IT LOOKS LIKE SHA IS HAVING SERVER PROBLEMS. ON 2 BOXES AT HOME I COULDN'T GET ANY WU'S FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS AND NOW THEIR SITE IS REAL SLOW.
ARE WE OVERLOADING THEIR SYSTEM ??
IT WILL BE ONTO THE 2ND CHOICE FOR POTM IF THIS ONE CAN'T KEEP UP TO US.

If there is trouble you can run the second place project or we are in a competition at WCG so you can send some work there as well.

I was just there and things are fine. Checked the message board and it seems they have a slowdown here and there. I don't know if it's for backups or what. I usually keep a few days worth of work on my systems for any project just in case of a crash like what happened to Rosetta a while back. I'll load a few WU's while I finish off QMC.

Just a thing I noticed: SHA seems to run very well on older smaller systems. I've had an old 600 Mhz Celeron laptop with 192 Mb memory running on it for a while with Win98. It seems to run cool and trouble free and gets over 90 credits/day. If you have an old P3 or something that's too slow for most projects, this might be one it can easily handle.

They do backups or something that make things slow for about an hour at night. During this period wus will upload without issue, but downloads and reporting may be delayed. As long as you have a decent cache setting you shouldn't have any trouble. Or you can always do like me and have at least 2 projects actively crunching on every machine (adjust resource share accordingly of course...) and you'll never have any issues with lack of work.

They're pretty quick to deal with any major issue with the server and there hasn't been any lack of work for a long time so we should be good for some decent crunching...

There is always the second place project or WCG challenge, alot of new teams joined in this challenge, we have a big lead now but I'd watch it.
