Competition Explaination
The King's International Gauntlet 2007
This competition is being run and hosted by SETI@NETHERLANDS so many thanks to the crew for organising this competition.
The King's International Gauntlet 2007
Since a while there is an idea to organise a SETI@home BOINC Gauntlet between various international teams. The last Gauntlet we organised was a SETI@home Classic Gauntlet in 2005. This idea layed low for a while because we couldn't find a programmer to make the statistics script needed for this Gauntlet. But S@NL teammember FilmFreak has taken the bull by its horns and build a new script.
So now we are ready to kick off the very first SETI@home BOINC Gauntlet!
We've called this Gauntlet "The King's International Gauntlet 2007".
What does a Gauntlet mean?
A Gauntlet is a temporary subteam competition. The origins of those Gauntlets lies with the Ars Technica Lambchop team, but they've been held international a few times already.
It works like this: Subteams are made of about 20-30 crunchers. From the start of the Gauntlet there is a daily update of the statistics of these subteams. The team that has the best production after a certain period of time, wins the Gauntlet.
This new Gauntlet will start at Sunday the 4th of november 2007 at 20:00 hrs GMT+1 and will end at Sunday the 18th of november 2007 at 20:00 hr GMT+1.
The following teams are putting one or more Gauntletteams together:
*
SETI@Netherlands
*
OverclockersUK
*
Planet 3DNow
*
UK BOINC Team
*
SETI.Germany
*
Icewolves
*
Team Anandtech
*
Dutch Power Cows
*
BOINC.BE
*
OcUK
*
BOINC Synergy
*
PADDY'S IN SPACE
*
Ireland
*
BOINC@Poland
*
Team England (BOINC)
*
Canada
We hope that more will follow.
You can view these teams on our Gauntlet statistic page.
While the Gauntlet is running, there is a daily update at 20:00 hr (GMT+1) of the progress on the site of FilmFreak, the member of SETI@Netherlands who created the statsscript. You can find these stats
on this page.
We have started a thread on our
international forum where all the competitors can discuss this Gauntlet. Members of OcUK and Seti.Germany have already registered on our forum to chat with us about the Gauntlet.
During this Gauntlet it will not be necessary to register on our forum to post in the International forum.
Other teams also started threads about the Gauntlet on their forums. Click on the links in the list above to open these threads.
We wish every competitor good luck in this Gauntlet and that the best may win.
