Just switched one core on my AMD 4800 X2 from Rosetta to WCG.

Glad you could help out BB, I just put two more cores on it myself, hope it will be enough.

Bill: How do you switch a single core on a dual-core (or, say, three on a quad) machine to run one project specifically? I would love to have three of my four cores specifically on WCG, and leave the fourth to rotate through my other projects.

My laptop and my AMD 3500+ are now switched to running WCG only.

I don't know of any way to specifiy actual cores, I just configure resource share accordingly. If you set WCG to have resource share of 1000 and your other project resource shares add up to 250 that should do it. Buffalo Bill might do it differently...

If that's the case, I'm already doing it. But it still rotates between projects on all four cores, it just spends 75% of its overall time on WCG. As I understand it, this causes loss in load-up time as it switches projects. Oh well.

I guess I should have worded that differently. I just use a 50/50 resource split. Both projects run all the time. Neither ever gets all resources.

Our lead has now gone down to 184720 points, our decline has slowed a bit.

Our lead is now down to 86752 Points, we're going to have to eject the cores and put in faster ones.

Grizz,

We're going to need a ton of help to outrun the Power Cows. It's a stampede.

Sigh,

It's still alot of fun to try BB, just keep in mind that the points shown on the WCG website are 7 times higher than BOINC points, so we only need to increase by about 12000 BOINC points a day. Come on members!!! :redskate:

Sure it's fun. If you can beat the DPC they used to call it a Bar-B-Que. Didn't happen much though.

I've got both my main machines on this full time now. We could sure use lunarcom's help on this one eh?
:pacman:

Well Folks, here is a perfect opportunity (for those interested) to start recruiting for BOINC and the team. I enjoy doing it myself but find my time limited more and more these days so could use all the help I can get. lol

Talk to your friends and relatives. Don't get to technical, just stress the benefit to Cutting Edge Science. Because we really are on the leading edge of a lot of VERY interesting fields of investigation. Buddies from work, Online friends, your neighbour or your Granny. Just talk about our hobby and invite them to try.

In fact, WCG is a great one for "Set it and Forget it" crunchers. Very stable and always shifting it's focus of study. :yup:

Appeal for aid has now been posted (via my blog and two other forums). Already in communication with seven peeps. Looks like they'll be signing up, so I think we can count on 12 more cores (1 quad, 2 dual, 4 single).

Dug out an old machine. Unfortunately doesn't have enough RAM for WCG. Is it even possible to still get old SDRam?

Well, we've officially dropped to 2nd place (by 27512 points!) so let's start cranking up big time and see if we can regain the lead!
