Rintaran from Timmins, Ontario reporting in.

I'm currently running in Seti, Rosetta, Einstein, and am sitting as 3rd in the team for QMC. Just started climateprediction, but it looks like it'll take a long time to get any credit for that..

Welcome WereChild

I started with the original SETI@Home as well on Jan 19,2001 and ended up with 8762 original WUs, nice to see some of us are still around.

Thanks Grizz,

Was looking for those since i posted earlier.. found them too!

Certificate of Appreciation is dated as of 2000-06-17, but was running for some time before i got that, late 1999 or early 2000 perhaps. As for the number of WU, i have no clue, bad memory and a whole lot of email (AOL, Earthlink, 3COM, etc) changes kinda screwed the count somewhat, ah well.

Old Guard indeed, eh!

No problem Aline! Here is a link to get you started.

 http://boinc.berkeley.edu/

BOINC is a way of helping scientists do research by allowing
your computer to do some of the calculations. You install a small program
on your computer and then it connects to the science project,
downloads a small piece of work, calculates it and sends it back.

Multiply this by 1/2 million computers and the work is completed very quickly.
This is a very simplistic explanation but accurate.

Let us know if you have any questions!! :-D

Thanks for the welcome Pawly. and yes, I am from Team Sambuca.

I've been crunching wu's since April 2000, started with the original SETI.

SETI@home classic workunits 1,285
SETI@home classic CPU time 24,297 hours

and now crunch all I can.

Hi Aline!

Spybot should be no trouble and if you have a Firewall (and YOU SHOULD for surfing the Net anyway!) you will have to grant BOINC and the projects it works on access to the internet.

Hope this helps!
Paul
