Hi guys, believe or not, this is not a joke.

A couple of days ago while Andrea was cooking dinner, she called up to me asking if I had turned off the downstairs computer. I didn't really understand what she was referring to, so popped down to have a look. Sure enough, the rig was off. Switched it back on & after getting passed the Windows logon screen, it shutdown. Did it again & the same thing happened.

Turned it on it's side & took panel off to check all cables & cards, no problems, so switched it back on. Everything A OK. forgot to put it right side up & left it. This evening, I righted it & sure enough, it shutdown.

Thought dodgy psu so changed it. Would you believe, on righting it, it shutdown. Currently running on it's side with no problems.

Have checked out all cables & power cables & cannot see any break in cables to cause a short.

Any suggestions/thoughts would be appreciated.

I would check the hard drive at this point. When they start to go they may work in one position and not another.

Thanks Grizz, I never thought of that. Too concerned with it possibly shorting out somewhere. It is a fairly old 40gb, I'll swap it out. Thanks.

Problem finally solved  It wasn't the HD or the psu, it was the mobo. It just died. PSU & HD ok on other rigs. Ah well, I'll try & squeeze in another quad this weekend
