Some people just cannot understand the words "Let the Matter Drop". Over the past week, there has been a real ding-dong of a battle going on in the "Seti Cafe" which came to a head at the weekend with certain threads being either locked or hidden.

After a number of crunchers receiving mod notices(including yours truly - 12 in 2 days - OUCH), one would have thought that the message would have been understood!

Nope, several hours ago, a former mod created a thread which was locked pretty quick, so decided to create another one. This only managed to have 2 posts before it was hidden. Within a very short time after this, both the Cafe & Politics boards have been "Temporarily Locked". Personally, I think they will remain locked for some time to come.

I'll weigh in here as I used to be a moderator over there. Some folks just can't leave well enough alone. Mods and posters alike. It can be a real challenge to try and keep everyone happy at SETI and in the end everyone gets upset.

To be honest, my stint as a mod over there really soured me to even READING the SETI forums let alone posting.

You're dead right on that, Pawly. They didn't leave alone quick enough. Just popped onto the boards since Thursday & couldn't believe what I'd seen. So far, found 7 accounts that have been terminated, of which 3 I was pretty sure that they would have received a substantial ban.

Fortunately, the number crunching board is safe from problems. (fingers crossed)
