CBC OLYMPIC WIDGET
<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www.cbc.ca/olympics/widget/BeijingWidget.swf" id="w489a17e5b5b4b251489f0bac13e5ebfd" height="250" width="300"> <param value="http://www.cbc.ca/olympics/widget/BeijingWidget.swf" name="movie"> <param value="transparent" name="wmode"> <param value="pid=489f0bac13e5ebfd&homepage=home&favCountry=CAN&sportCode=hra0hr_hra0hr_hra0hr_35r" name="flashvars"> <param value="all" name="allowNetworking"> <param value="always" name="allowScriptAccess"></object>

Any thoughts or predictions folks?

I think this will be a strong Olympics for Canada and ofcourse the USA and China but who else will rise to the occasion? Will pollution, terrorism or politics play major roles in the outcome?

I'm not sure Pawly. Caught the late night news here on Wednesday & they were showing a report about that bomb explosion which killed 16 people. The perps stated that they will attempt to interrupt the games. I just hope that there will be no repeat of Munich 72.

My father & I were on our way to work that morning at 04:30 & we bought our reguar newspapers. Splashed across the front page was the headlines "They're Free". By the time we got to work, a fellow colleague had a copy of the papers & they had the headlines "They're Dead". It really thew everyone as we didn't get to find out which was correct until the lunchtime news on the radio.

I'm afraid that since then, sports have become too political instead of competitive.

Well the opening ceremonies were definitely a spectacle! Truly Grande! Hopefully the weather will cooperate over the next few weeks.

Yeah the fighting in Northern Georgia is really heating up. Saw some terrifying video on the news. Hopefully they will come to their senses.

BEIJING -- The U.S men's volleyball team took to the court on Sunday to play their opening game after saying they were "devastated" by the killing of their coach's father-in-law in the Chinese capital.

I can't imagine it would help their performance, no. Sad news indeed.

I've added the CBC Olympic Widget to the first post. It is customizable so you can get info on your favourite Countries NOT named Canada. :)

I missed the opening ceremonies completely, so if anyone finds a video, I'd like to watch it sometime. Can't find one anywhere.

Those US tv links won't work up outside the US. I'm not keen on using free proxy servers.

NinjaVideo to the rescue!

4 hrs. from Aussie TV

You will need to open the "NinjaVideo Helper"
It's an Applett and it's harmless.
