Oh boy the Ghost Units are back. This is related to Anyone running Optimized apps, there is a bug since they have updated around the 16th of May. If you have been having trouble downloading work since about the 16th of May since Thumper has been restored, here is the temp fix. This should get you crunching seti again:


In your BOINC/projects/seti@home.berkley.edu folder....
Rename app_info.xml so it won't be recognized
Restart BOINC (service)
Update SETI - may not get through first time, but keep trying
Restore app_info.xml to original name
Wait until all transfers have finished
Restart BOINC (service)

It seems to have worked for me. I will keep an eye on when it tries to upload the finished WU.

Yep Sixpack rocks with all the info and updates :)
I was still having problems reporting with the fix, maybe it was the server I dunno. I also know of at least one person who lost some work but that was also related to renaming the original client I think. In any case, for me renaming app_info.xml and then running the app worked fine, in some cases the default exe is downloaded, but renaming that too should run the optimized application. Whether different optimized clients will respond exactly the same way I can't say, but thought I'd share what I experienced in case it helps anyone with probs.
