Looks like WCG has a new project:

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/projects_showcase/hfcc/viewHfccMain.do

Help Fight Childhood Cancer:

"Mission
The mission of the Help Fight Childhood Cancer project is to find drugs that can disable three particular proteins associated with neuroblastoma, one of the most frequently occurring solid tumors in children. Identifying these drugs could potentially make the disease much more curable when combined with chemotherapy treatment."

Thanks for the update. Switched a couple of quads over, but getting no wu's - probably due to the AP wu's still crunching.

Good to know, I'll crunch some WUs of this project for sure when the PrimeGrid challenge is over.

WCG has projects which you can't say anything but: "wow, it's a great project."

You have no choice but to love these project's ambitions.

That's why it's one of my top projects even though the credits granted are somewhat low. I've already got 1 returned result for the sub-project and 2 more crunching away on some of my slower boxes. I'll keep things dedicated to Childhood Cancer for my WCG crunching until I get my "Gold badge" then switch back to crunching them all. WCG is my "backup" project for a lot of my boxes so it'll crunch away slowly...

I wonder if WCG has (or will have) enough HFCC WU ready for the team to put it through its paces in April?
*nudge nudge, wink wink*

I mailed a friend about this and inquired about her young cousin (5 Years Old! ), here's an excerpt from her reply:

Quote:
... She has stage 4 neuroblastoma. She had her two stem cell transplants and has moved to the last stage which is radiation. ...

Thanks for thinking of her!

I will have to crunch harder. :(

I didn't crunch WCG for a while, but my selected project was "Help conquer cancer".

I switched to the new project. Still, same kind of fight! I'll crunch a badge right now.

Same here. I'll keep a quad dedicated to WCG. Don't really give a monkey's regarding adults, but it hurts to see kiddies suffering.

As Aqua seems to be drying up, will keep workstation (Phenom 9500) crunching WCG-HFCC until I get Gold (Just got Bronze  ), then leave it crunch all their projects. Not sure if you know about Jade Goody (Reality TV Star here) over your side, but she passed away yesterday.

Personally, I think too much was made of her, but "The Big C" needs curing & if WCG can help find that cure, I'm all for it.

About Jade Goody... I won't say she deserved it... I think nobody should suffer and be ill, but I lost respect in this person when I learned how she sold her agony to the best bidder on TV... She's claiming she wanted money for her children... still, she made about 2 M $ (CAD) selling the rights to shot her wedding, so she didn't need to show her death on television.... anyways...

May she rest in peace.

=================

I just got my bronze badge as well, I'll let one host crunching WCG until I get the gold badge at least before switching to other projects.

Edit and update: I got the gold badge! 340 results on this project.

Just got my ruby badge (180 days) for HFCC!!!

Now crunching in addition Help Conquer Cancer so I get my silver badge, and will continue on crunching for HFCC!

I really play this project close to the chest, as I knew a friend who got cancer at age 10. Will continue to crunch this project for as long as it exists hopefully.
