Have been told there is a solution - on A/C page, go to resource share & uncheck "Use GPU If Available". Did so, but was told that it doesn't stop wu's already crunching, so had to abort the cuda wu's as they were either locking up the rig or playing havoc with the display. Switched the enhanced back on & everything seems to be working ok now, but am keeping a close eye on the proceedings.
Like everything else in the technology world, all new ideas/devices have their teething problems, & I think cuda can make a big difference, but I'll think I'll wait until it becomes stable & mainstream before I start using it.
What I do find very strange is that I have 1x 8400, 1x 8500 & 2x 9500 geoforce cards (all 512mb) & they don't have this problem, but my test machine has no gpu but it has a geoforce 8300 chipset which the app detected & ran cuda - weird!

On checking earlier, found that it had now crunched 1:27 with over 86 to go. checking the message log, found that it had exited with zero finish, yet it's still crunching. Posted this on S@H, but no reply so far. Still have a dozen AP's to crunch
I've had a couple of these in the last two years, all MB IIRC. From many posts and comments on the SETI Forums, it appears that the problem is in the WU, and you do get a few from time to time. I just abort them when it's apparent that the time to completion is strongly rising.
One poster on the SETI forums suggested re-installing the ap you are using if you get "too many" of these. I did this after the first problem WU, and then got another one a few months later. Just deleted it, did nothing else, and everything seems fine (so far).

I only started crunching the POTM a day or two ago... My slower two boxes are pluggin away and havent really got many WU's pushed through yet, just one or two each, but those have provided credits..
My big problem is my faster machine has returned all 13 of its WUs as "Compute Error" and ive got zero credits from that machine... (I'm not doing Astropulse ones because I hate waiting a week for them to finish)
Seti@Home Beta Tasks for Computer 39131
Its an Athlon X2 4600+ running 64 bit Linux (Ubuntu 8.10)
Running the latest BOINC client version that I see for 64 bit Linux (6.4.5)
Anyone have any clues as to what a possible problem could be?
Lookin thru the SETI@Home Beta discussion forum nothing jumps out, but then again I didnt really look that hard... Figured I'd ask here before I spend hours tryin to figure it out on my own, and rip my hair out.
For now I've taken it off of SETI beta until maybe I can find something that might help me..

Have you tried resetting the project to see if it''s helping?

These 13 WU's were the ONLY WUs ever run, the project attached right before it ran these WUs...
But I'll try a reboot and resetting it and I'll run a WU through and see what happens...
I'll post the result later tonight.

Update:
I recently finished the Seti@Home beta WU I said I would try in the last post, and it also came up as a Compute Error.
My other two boxes (specs in my sig) are crunching these same WU's fine, and all 3 boxes are running Linux, except theyre running 32 bit and the one I'm having problems with is a 64 bit...
None of the other projects I've crunched for have ever given me problems on this machine...
Here's a link to the latest Compute Error work unit if anyone cares to see it
Okay now searching for the "signal 11" error that is shown in the work units, I found a mention of it on the SETI beta forum, which says
" if possible, use the 32 bit version on your host with an app_info.xml until Eric has fixed that bug or deprecates this version at beta, too."
Theres a bug in the Linux 64-bit version...
I'm amazed I'm the only one to have stumbled upon this... we must really not have many Linux 64 bit users...
EDIT: Another update, searching the Seti forums I cant find any examples of an app_info.xml that I can use to only run the 32-bit app so I'm giving up on this machine...

Last night I was playing around with the overclock program EVGA sent me with the last gtx cards I put in the I7, cranked it up to 90 deg. and the results started to fly. This morning I get up and this is what Seti Beta is saying. I like it!!!

Lucky I've had nothing but problems with Seti Beta this time around. So much so, I'm no longer crunching it asides from 1 ap left.
