:hmm: I won't argue with you guys because I'm a newbie and don't know much about it but I did notice one thing about their work units...at least those I've done over the last two weeks. I got a bunch of errors as well until I suspended the other projects and ran AIS exclusively for a week or so. What I found is that all the work units that I ran without pausing them succeeded. I tested my theory by downloading a bunch of wu's and then starting and pausing them. Each one I did this with failed. The work unit would end and I would get a compute error. If your Boinc is set up to switch between projects every hour as mine was it would never finish a work unit as they each take about 5 hours to complete with my cpu. I have yet to have a wu fail of theirs that I ran without a pause. Test it out for yourself and I think you'll find I'm right. My cpu does run 3 or 4 degrees hotter crunching their wu's though. As for how much work they have...I'll defer to Grizz on that point. :)

I've had several fail without pausing, but it's pretty much a guarantee that if you pause one it will fail (even if kept in memory). Until they sort out that issue, however, the project won't make it onto any of my bigger crunchers.

I JUST GOT AN EMAIL FROM WORLD Community Grid
BEGGING FOR MORE HELP.
NOT SURE IF ITS JUST AN AUTOMATED RESPONSE OR IF THEY ARE GETTING DESPERATE.
YOU MIGHT WANT TO ADD IT TO THE VOTING LIST FOR AUGUST

When you dont crunch WCG for a few months, The project send you that email to try to get you to come back. I had the same one a few months back. But adding it to a POTM list is a good idea.

Will consider it but we have run this project a couple of times in the last few months and we'll probably run it for a challenge in December. There is alot of other projects that haven't been voted on yet.

I've received one as well & replied on their forum. Lawrence said not to worry about it as it's automated. He did say he was looking forward to me returning to WCG, but as Grizz said, I think WCG get a of crunching via races & challenges.

I forgot to help out BB earlier in the year with Rosetta, so when the WCG race is over, switching all rigs over to R@H.

I've been a little preoccupied for the past couple of months and have not been on a lot --- but what are we doing for June??
I'm not sure what the criteria is for nominating a POTM.
Personally - I'd like to run the Clean Energy Project on the World Community Grid but it seems to keep running out of jobs, so I only run it on a part-time basis. Can I put in a vote for maybe something like Cosmology for this month?

I'd like to nominate Genetic Life for the voting next time! Runs fast...runs low key...tons of work units too. Team Canada is currently at Number 16 in the ranks and needs a boost.

Sounds good, I'll second that, including GenLife in the voting.

Ok no problem I'll put it in the voting if it still is giving work in the middle of the month.

Added ABC@home to my machines yesterday but had to take it off of both older linux boxes. All it was doing was producing client errors on every work unit.

Well -- I've been running genetic life for the past few weeks and cannot honestly say that I am overwhelmed by the amount of work that is available - I run out of work at least once a week on at least one of my crunchers - and if it were not for the fact that I am either running Seti or ABC beside it, I'd probably run out of work a lot more. Mind you, Seti has been no slice of pie either - it keeps running out of work too.
Now - that little rant aside -- what's next for POTM??????????? :-D

POTM will be ready for today.

Some projects limit how many unites you can download in one day, maybe that is the problem your having with genetic life.

 DUH-ME!!! Thanks for prodding what was left of my memory Grizz -- I have seen that a couple of times on my messages that I had maxxed out - but in going back in my logs, I also have occasions where it told me that there was no work available. All in all - it goes to a good cause.
Einsten for next month? Any other requests out there? I'd personally love to run Cosmology again but until they get their computing demands under control, I'm not running it.

They create new work units only once an hour at half past hour mark. I found if I only ran theirs and asked for four or five days of work, I got more than enough to keep me loaded up.
