For the past several months, i've been having a problem with various rigs. Most have been running 24/7 with the exception of maintainence down time & asides from Windows Updates, no new hardware or software installed.

One by One, they have all got the above stop code & on googling it, find that there are many different reasons for the error, with none of the reasons valid for me.

Fairly recently, i did come across a reason that even Microsoft did not suggest (they suggested mainly XP SP2/3 problems).

As my home server just experienced this stop code, tried that solution & it solved the problem straight away. It was constantly rebooting itself for the past 36 hrs with that error code (attempting to access non-executable memory).

The solution was to remove ram (if more than 1 stick installed)& reboot. Tried this with the other rigs that were having the problem & removed a stick of ram & so far, all are now running without the dreaded bsod.

Only removed a stick from the 2nd slot on each rig, did not test both sticks.

On checking the ram, I have found that they are all from the same manufacturer but not the same batch number unfortunately.

The only rig that hasn't experienced that error is my workstation which has 4x 2gb sticks from the same manufacturer.

All sticks were bought in July 2008 & just wondering, what is the expected life of a memory stick?

Just a quick question for you...is the ram single or dual sided (ie. chips on only one side or both)? I've seen similar issues with certain motherboards where the only allow a specific number of "sides" for RAM. In one of the case I saw there were 4 RAM slots, but if you had more than 6 "sides" it would give random crashes similar to the ones your experiencing. The fix was simply to remove 2 of the 4 existing 2-sided ram modules and replace them with 2 single sided modules. Likely a rare occurrance, but thought I'd mention it if it helps...

Thanks User312, made a note of that one previously when Dell came up on the board.

The problem here is that the mobo's are 1x AM2 & 2x AM3 with 4 ram slots in each, & with the exception of the Technician rig, they all have 2x 2gb sticks, all dual sided but they only have 4 sides in total.

The Technician rig runs all 64 bit (win 7 Ultimate + testing, OPK'ing etc), with 4x 2gb sticks, so that may have been the cause there. Only running now with 4gb & no problems experienced since removing the other 2 sticks.

Should that be the major cause, find it weird that rigs ran continuously since build date (asides from servicing schedules).
