The only problem is where and when! lol

Maltese Falcon (over at Team Genesis) Proposed this idea to me and I like it!! We can organize Southern Ontario and other regions could get in on the act too. We would need a central location for easy access and a date which doesn't conflict to much. A Saturday or Sunday I think would be best. If you are interested then please post here or PM me if you like.

Let us see who is interested first before we go any further.

That actually sounds like hella fun, though we have no way to travel atm. It puts me in mind of old bbs gathering and mud parties I used to go to. 8D

If we can travel on the date you decide on, we'll sign up :)

I can just imagine me going through the border crossing and having them ask what I will be doing in Canada....lol

I'd have to tell them I am going to check out the Blue Jays or something. They would never buy my story of going to crash a picnic...LMAO

Well if you would take off the reaper robe and maybe put on some shorts and a tshirt they wouldn't give you so much trouble!

You know ... that's a great idea you guys came up with (as I told Maltese Falcon too)... it depends a little on where and when I guess, but if I can attend I will :)

Hahaha ! Had some fun with this last night. I love those burgers lol and that funny looking food . Seriously tho, it might be a good idea to advertise this picnic eh? Image size can be adjusted to whatever specification.

This next one is a bit weird, but kinda fun and guaranteed to keep the mosquitoes away LOL. There's a kind of picnicky scene rotating around through the letters. Not sure how practical this is, might scare people away too LOL ! But another image can be substituted and scripted to show thru the letters and rotate. And then there can be some nice still images to advertise rather than animated instead. Just some ideas :)

Ratty, those are FANTASTIC! I am going to copy paste it to the Team Genesis Forum http://teamgenesis.freeforums.org/ . Maybe a static version suitable for posting at SETI would be good. Or can we post flash stuff there? Don't think so, not sure?

Either way I love them, A great surprise to wake up to! lol I can spot KM! He's lurking in the background!

Thank You so much!

*EDIT* Ok, maybe I'm just too sleepy but I couldn't paste it on the Team Genesis site. ????

Thanks for being so creative and for taking the time to put them together.

P.S. May I use them on my website?

Cheers

Hiya Pawly & Maltese Falcon :) Warning, this post is a monster - lots of ratty techy talky talk LOL !

You guys are awesome - gee, I gotta confess LOL I made those images up on a crazy whim ;) - ratty mischief was the intention ha :D !! Thought 4sure people' would say "what'cha doin' crazy rat, tryin to scare people away from the picnic!?!" LOL

Hey, but if want 'em you got 'em - do whatever you want with them - please accept them with my thanks :) !

But because they are Flash .swf files, unfortunately, you can't download them just by right clicking on them, sorry. I use Flash because the animations are a fraction of the size they normally would be and you can use programming with the imagery to do things you just can't do with older gif animation technology, such as include sound, special effects and interactive programming. For example, I'm sure many people have played Flash video games, which are Flash swfs.

If HTML is enabled, just pop in the long special flash coding further below and the image will pop in. To adjust size, modify the width & height values which occur twice (once for IE browser & once for Mozilla browsers like firefox, Netscape). If u can only use BB code, see if the special BB swf code just below is available (almost always isn't )

Code:
[swf]url to swf location[/swf]
It would be great if the seti message boards include that code with the other BB codes someday as I don't think it's available. Swf's are basically vector graphics + programming, so therein lies a danger. You could also try asking forums to please turn html on, but good luck with that lol ! Unfortunately, but understandably, many forums limit html and swf files due to security concerns.

Coding for 1st image:
Code:
<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="550" height="360" id="picnic2" align="middle">
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain">
<param name="movie" value="http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t253/renato999/picnic2.swf"><param name="loop" value="false">
<param name="menu" value="false"><param name="quality" value="high">
<param name="bgcolor" value="#000000">
<embed src="http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t253/renato999/picnic2.swf" loop="false" menu="false" quality="high" bgcolor="#000000" width="550" height="360" name="picnic2" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash">
</object>

Here is coding for 2nd image:

Code:
<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="550" height="200" id="Untitled-1" align="middle">
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain">
<param name="movie" value="http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t253/renato999/Untitled-1.swf">
<param name="menu" value="false">
<param name="quality" value="high"><param name="bgcolor" value="#000000">
<embed src="http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t253/renato999/Untitled-1.swf" menu="false" quality="high" bgcolor="#000000" width="550" height="200" name="Untitled-1" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer">
</object>

If u want, I will make an animated gif version that you can post anywhere. But because the file size could be enormous, the anim gif version will be smaller, poorer quality & limited in scope as it's is converted from vector graphics to pixels. The process is kind of like transferring a song from an audio CD to an old phonograph record lol.

Anyhow, I better wrap up this yak fest LOL - thank you for your patience & any and all suggestions welcome ;) Bye - Splat :D !!

Thanks Splatrat for allowing me to use the swf and for providing the code.
I always have room for something like this on my website.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner on this - what a crazy day today - we had this HUGE sens rally downtown and stuff, so I been goin extra crazy today LOL! And was it ever HOT - 32 C and humid geesh !

Anyhoo ... I got an answer for ya ..... and ...

Yipper ... I'll try making an animated gif version and static image of the 2 animations and see how it works out.

Based on the size & complexity of the 1st image - it'll be very dicey - so a static image may be best. I'll post both non-swf versions of it so we can all have a good laugh LOL !

As for 2nd image, I think it'll work out okay as an animated gif - but not absolutely sure of that.

And over the next day or so, there's gonna be a 3rd thingie, an "extreme" version of the 1st image .... ultimate ratty mischief ... killer balloons from space ..... laser blasts ..... death in the park ..... oooohhhhhhh .... hope you've got quick reflexes ..... you are warned ;) LOL LOL - cya Splat :D !!

Not yet but there does seem to be some interest! I guess we will see. Still early in the picnic season, so we have time.

@Splatrat
I know you live in Ottawa (great city - was there for March break), but I would really welcome the opportunity to meet you.

Modesto, one of the members on our team, lives there too. Maybe you guys can commute for the picnic. Just a thought.

Other than that, I'll be in Ottawa again for the last week of August. I have to drive my daughter up cause she'll be starting at uOttawa first week of September. Maybe we can meet then. We usually stay at the Embassy Hotel on Cooper Str.

@Knightmare
Same goes to you KM. I would love to have your acquaintance.

@Grizz
"Of course bears are welcome. We're gonna have all sort of animals there - Birds, Rodents & Mammals - He! He!"

@Pawly
I'm trying to compile a list of possible parks to post. It might be easier for people to pick and choose.

If the event winds up being within a reasonable driving distance from me, and I can actually get the time off work to make the trip, I will do everything I can to make it. I don't have to get a passport to go to Canada. All I have to do is cross at Sarnia or Windsor. :-)

It would be great to see you @ the picnic or at least here in Ottawa :D !! Niagara Falls sounds okay to me :) Of course, if you'd prefer to have the picnic on Parliament Hill instead, I won't object LOL !

Oh .. and I will try to put up the 1st draft of "Killer Balloons from Space - Carnage at The Picnic In The Park " later. That way you can see what's happening and can see how a game evolves. I've got the killer balloons sequences pretty well done. Next stage, 2nd Draft will be to combine the 1st Draft with that funny Picnic scene and make each person in the scene interactive with the balloons - that's when the real fun should start heheheeh! Not sure what to do with Splat flyin around - not sure whose side he'll be on ...... if you shoot him, he'll look at ya and laugh for now. If you spot any bugs, please let me know, thanks in advance - cya Later :D !!

Okay, 1st draft, Phase 1 is done. Click "PLAY" and use your Keyboard's LEFT & RIGHT arrows to move laser, hit SPACEBAR to fire - and that's it. If you ever click OUTSIDE the game once it's going click just ONCE inside the game anywhere so you can regain control of the game. Might help too if you push F11 before playing so you get more vertical height in your browser. At this stage, there is no real point to the game, just endless, mindless Killer Balloon shooting LOL. Pawly, I'll try to get the anim gif and stills done tomorrow sometime - cya :D !!

@ SplatRat

WOW!! Our own Video Game!! Very Cool! I have no objection to Parliament Hill, infact it might just be the most symbolic place for hte First picnic! Although, I think we need to take into consideration other travellers. Like I said before, Niagara was just an idea.

@ Everyone

I had a quick look on Google Maps and from my memory I believe that Queen Victoria Park is RIGHT BESIDE THE FALLS! Not sure if we would need a permit or not? I could go and do some Recon when my Lady gets back from her vacation (if she found out I went to Niagara without her ......... Nuff said! lol) I'll keep you all updated.
