Hi guys, right this minute, I'm looking like a red-faced chump

Last Sat evening, after returning from London with a load of "Goodies" for my server & busy adding them, Andrea came running upstairs swearing she saw a very large mouse in the lounge.

Rushed downstairs & grabbed a torch, then searched behind all the furniture & thoroughly checked out the lounge. No joy :!: Andrea went to bed saying that it must have been her imagination :(

About 10 minutes ago, while having fun with the Win7 RC & XP Mode on my workbench, with the lights low, I felt something brush my feet & looked down to see the fattest mouse I've ever seen.

It shot back into the lounge & I grabbed my torch, shut the lounge door & searched - could I find him - no chance - Checked all the furniture, skirting boards, walls - Just could not find any hole/s where the little  could get in.

Anyone have ideas as to how I can track the little tyke down?

LOL ! NICE SURPRISE EH?
I WOULDN'T BOTHER TRYING TO TRACK HIM, I'D JUST BAIT HIM.
PEANUT BUTTER IS MY FAVORITE FOR THE LITTLE FUR BALLS.
THEY CAN'T RESIST IT. BEST FOR SNAP TRAPS OR LIVE TRAPS.
YOU WOULD BE AMAZED AT HOW SMALL OF A HOLE THEY CAN SQUEEZE THROUGH, EVEN A FAT ONE.

Yeah peanut butter, or Nutella, they like that a lot!

I'd suggest you buy a big cat

Andrea loves cats & we had one up to a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, the B*****d next door killed it because of his racing pidgeons. I'll try what you guys have suggested, but I won't use a trap - I'll try & bait trail him/her into the dining room as the next exit is the rear garden.

A LIVE TRAP IS PROBABLY THE BEST WAY TO GO. HE WON'T WANT TO GO OUTSIDE EASILY.
OF COURSE YOU COULD JUST TURN HIM INTO A PET. LOL
NAME HIM WINSTON (HE IS A FAT ONE RIGHT?)

That feeling will pass once you start noticing the mouse droppings.

The little buggers will set up 'runs', a trail they follow from nest to food soucre.
Most of the time it will be behind fridge, stove and through kitchen cabinets.
They can get around from openings around pipes, drain pipes for sinks, radiator and gas pipes.

Good Hunting

Jeebers, now I've got no choice but to catch the little  I was upstairs & in the middle of downloading from technet when I lost all net connections. Even boinc stated no net. Checked via home server & that stated no connections.

Went downstairs & found that the tyke had chewed through both 15m rj45 cables & sure enough, all rigs on workbench - no net access. Had to jury rig connections as I've got no more 15m cables.

Can't find any holes anywhere in the lounge, so going to strip it clean later today & check the floorboards - he keeps running back to the lounge, so his nest has to be somewhere in there - I'll find it

Cleared the lounge & got a surprise - Concrete floor. Checked everywhere very carefully, but can't find anywhere where he could possibly be entering from. So to be sure, cleared the dining room & same there, concrete.

As the lounge is like Spaghetti Junction (Numerous motorway entrances/exits converging at Birmingham, where one can very easily get lost or end up on the wrong motorway - YES, it happened to me :oops2: ), he will have to be caught as cabling is fairly expensive here.

Either have to bait the little rascal with a live trap or get the local Pest control in.

This cheeky chappie is doing my head in. Trap all laid out, & no sign of him. So had neighbour help out with drilling & wiring. Fed RJ45 up through corner of ceiling & into server & saved 5m of cable. 10m was more than sufficient.

Whoa, got a lovely surprise 5 minutes ago. Andrea shouted & came running upstairs & after calming her down, told me. So went downstairs & checked, trap was a waste of time - there was the little rascal drowning in the toilet bowl.

Fished the imp out & laid him outside in the garden. From the looks of him, I think he got too much water in his lungs. He was gasping for air & struggling to get up on his little legs.

edit: Poor tyke. it looks like he made it off the well cover & back on his feet, but his heart must of gave out from the exertion. Will put him on the compost heap before Andrea sees him.
